An extra week of “E”

We extended the week of “E” to explore more about our election, elephants, endangered and extinct animals, emotions, and more.

We read Elmer by David McKee and each made our own drawings and collages of Elmer with his colorful patchwork. Have you ever felt like Elmer? He felt different from everyone else and wanted to fit in. How did he make himself more like the other elephants? What happened in the end of the story? How do you think Elmer felt by the end of the story?

Research led to new discoveries about endangered and extinct animals. Each child selected an animal for their research, did drawings, and created three-dimensional models. We learned some interesting facts about some special animals including a sea turtle, panda, koala, wooly mammoth, and the blue whale.

The Absentee Ballot Box was a busy spot this week as the children cast their votes in the Primary Color Election. The ballots will be counted, tallied, and graphed with the final results during “F” week!

We learned the signs to express emotions in American Sign Language. So far we learned the signs for happy, sad, mad, excited, and scared. We listened to different types of music and moved our bodies to express the emotions of the music.

Our yoga practice included a review of all of the poses we have learned. We will add Eagle Pose for “E” week and continue to stretch our bodies all the way through the alphabet!

The letter “F” fills another fully virtual week of fantastic, fun lessons and play.
